In Beijing

Dan Vogel is in Beijing and enjoying himself.

When I arrived 22 hours later than I was supposed to, all turned well.

Ben and I enjoyed our 1st meal together at the restaurant next to the hotel. We had some mutton (lamb), sweet and sour chicken, and some egg wheat things (not shown). We then walked around and saw some fun stuff...After I took an hour nap and Ben took a half night sleep, we had some Peking duck. I know it looks good, and trust me the experience was unforgettable, but the taste did not do it for me.The following day (today) we saw three different temples. We saw a llama Temple, a Confucius Temple and a University that is next to it and the Temple of Heaven. Basically, everything looks like the below 2 pictures.
Now for the fun story of the day. There is this little corner store next to our hotel. For some reason, they have Pabst Blue Ribbon (least classy beer in 49 states) and Ben and I have been buying water there for the past 2 days. Well yesterday, one of the guys in there became infatuated with the fact that Ben and I are Ape-like (in case you are confused, we have thick facial stubble and arm hair and are far from Asian looking). This guy kept touching our arms in a creepy way. Well, we thought it was a one time thing, so we went back to buy some more water this evening (we are 12 hours ahead of eastern USA'ers). We pay for the water, and this creep-man curesses my arm again and then starts to lift up my shirt. Now, I don't know what this guy assumed Ben & I were, but I am pretty sure he didn't assume that he would lose future business. Moral of the story: there are creeps every where in the world.

I probably could have delievered that better, but I need to get some sleep. Tomorrow is Great Wall day. I can't wait.

Xui Xui.
