After a few hours in Tazawako, we went back to Kakunodate which is know for having an old Samurai District.
After stopping at our hotel which was right next to the train station, we went out towards the Samurai district in hopes of finding a samurai or two and also some food.
Not sure what this is, but it looked neat.

Here is a section of a samurai house. We waited here for some time, hoping that a samurai would jump out. Not a single one jump out.

Finally, at 8pm we found dinner and we were not disappointed. It was an old style Japanese restaurant and awesome food. I think I had something with egg and chicken. Odd, since chicken is not very big in Japan.

After this dinner, we went to sleep before 10pm. We are old.
The next morning I had a semi-typical Japanese breakfast. Miso soup, rice and some other fishy things. I think the bread was non-Japanese.

After breakfast we walked back towards the Samurai District to go inside the houses.
Here is the outside... no samurai.

Here is the outside (of a different house)... no samurai.
I believe this is the kitchen/dinner room.

Had we been at this same location in April, this would have been a beautiful
Cherry Blossom scene. However, since it was July, just trees.

pictures here.
Then we were off to Goshogake.
Next post at 10am tomorrow.
